Our beloved robot Bbot is broken and we apologize for that inconvenience.
In 2016, we invested in a small start-up company called Bbot, it was the world’s first robotic drink delivery system, and we were one of just two companies to own the robot. As part of fulfilling our mission to #projectwonder and create magical experiences, we were thrilled to work with a startup company of dreamers just like us.
In 2022, Bbot was acquired out by DoorDash— not for the robot, but instead for its web-based ordering software, something that the Bbot Creators pioneered and perfected long before the era of Covid and contact-free ordering existed. Initially, we thought the sale would be an exciting opportunity to expand the Bbot brand that we loved so much. That was unfortunately not the case. DoorDash wasn’t concerned about about the physical robot portion of the company, and shortly After DoorDash took over, our Bbot began experiencing issues we’d never seen before. Our code became corrupted and the robot stopped working completely.
After well over a year working with Attorneys on both sides, we were able to take back the rights to use our Bbot.
Unfortunately, the code was still corrupted, and the long process of repairing the robot began with no help from DoorDash. We hoped that re-writing the code would resolve the issues, but the process working with freelance Robot Specialists to essentially rebuild the programming from scratch has been complicated and time-consuming.
We are so very sorry if this impacts your visit with us, but it wholeheartedly is not our intention.
